Tell us something about yourself!
I'm Tara, in my late 20s. I live in the western, mountainous, dry part of the USA. I'm currently a librarian. I like hiking, weird movies, gothic novels, and 3D printing. I also like floral skirts and striped cardigans.
What kind of art do you usually draw?
I’m trying to break into horror comics, but I tend to do a lot of fanart.
What got you interested in working with the Anxiety anthology?
I’ve had problems with anxiety and depression all my life and wanted to share a little bit of my experience with that.
Tell us a little bit about your piece for the anthology!
My piece is about social anxiety that results from being uncomfortable with my appearance. If I drew myself as a simple cartoon, I would look too cute, but I wanted to portray the psychological experience of feeling like an ugly monster, like the Phantom of the Opera or Quasimodo. So I chose to draw my face as a chaotic scribble.
